I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 41355) and
I hold a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the Institute
of Transpersonal Psychology with a certificate in Creative Expressions.
I have extensive experience providing psychotherapy for clients dealing
with a wide range of issues arising from substance abuse, post traumatic
stress disorder, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, disability
and chronic illness. In addressing these issues I use methods that
allow for the exploration of underlying psychological difficulties
drawing on my training in psychology and my eclectic mix of life experiences. |

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) |

As
founder and team leader of the DBT Mid-Peninsula team I offer DBT
skills training groups and individual DBT therapy for clients who
want to reduce their emotional vulnerability and create a life worth
living. I have been intensively trained as a DBT skills trainer
and therapist by Behavioral Tech, LCC of Seattle, WA. I have also
completed extensive post graduate training in DBT and have been
teaching the skills for numerous years with a variety of client
populations. |

As
founding principal of Helen Selenati & Associates, I have blended
my people skills, managerial expertise and diverse pharmaceutical
and biotech backgrounds, to successfully mentor and coach managers
in technology-based industries to become more effective managers
and dynamic team leaders.
Before
coming to the US in 1989, I lived in South Africa where I practiced
as a pharmacist for 10 years, before earning an MBA (cum laude)
and entering the corporate pharmaceutical industry. For 15 years,
I held key positions in marketing, business development and communications
in US organizations where I gained practical experience working
with technology-based companies and leading key initiatives. |

addition to my managerial experience in the corporate world, I hold
a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal
Psychology and a Certificate in Integral Coaching through New Ventures
West, accredited by the International Coaching Federation.

Whether
individually coaching tomorrow’s technology leaders in developing
their most effective and impactful management styles or facilitating
my innovative In-House Mentoring Programs, I possess the background,
strategies and assessment tools for transforming a company’s technical
talent into results-oriented, team-building managers and leaders.

I
have applied my qualifications in pharmacy, counseling psychology
and certification in integral coaching to assist clients in dealing
with issues related to chronic illness and pain, unwanted addictions
and challenges with adult ADD. During the 15 years that I held positions
in the pharmaceutical industry I honed my skills in creative problem
solving and interpersonal relationships which is critical for success
in the business arena. |

Starting with my career in pharmacy
many years ago, I have always had a passion for being of service
to others and discovering innovative ways to alleviate suffering.
I bring an eclectic mix of experiences to my life coaching relationships
that makes me unique in this field. With warmth and compassion,
my focus is on the client, not on the problem. |
